Celebrating Tu B’Shvat

Monday was Tu B’Shvat (the New Year for the trees), and we had fun celebrating the day as a birthday for trees!

With all the fruit the kids brought in, we made a delicious fruit salad filled with oranges, apples, bananas, pears, and strawberries. The kids also got to practice cutting (with a plastic knife) by chopping up our fruit to put in the bowl.

Another thing we did was take the milk cartons the kids painted last week and turn them into planters. The kids scooped soil into our little planters, then added parsley seeds. We talked about what makes plants grow, how they need water and sunlight and a lot of love to grow big and strong.
